Sound & Acoustics
Microphones
The Desk Pro has a vertical microphone array in the left bezel and two microphones in the top bezel near the centre. Be aware that the Desk Pro feature a focused microphone pickup which attenuates sound to the sides of the device and aims to transmit primarily sound from in front of the device.
Acoustics
The wooden wall grille consists of a layer of porous insulation material mounted on the concrete wall in a frame with a fabric covering, onto which a wooden grille is mounted. This provides sound absorption and reduces the flutter echo that would otherwise exist between the side walls.
The experience of our video endpoints can be even better with well-aimed acoustic treatment. Although we have noise reduction and reverberation reduction algorithms, the sound clarity in your room depends on the acoustic conditions.
For the optimal experience ensure that sound absorption is distributed evenly on the walls to avoid flutter echo between parallel walls.
Lighting
To give video meeting participants their best appearance they should be lit from above, the front and the back. To achieve this, use a glare-free luminary with a beam angle of 90° or wider. The recommended light intensity for faces is 400‑500 lux, measured vertically. We recommend 700‑900 lux on horizontal work surfaces. The lighting in the room should be even, with little variance between light and dark areas.
Interior
Making sure all components are setup in the right place in the room is an integral part of achieving truly great video calls. Ensure the correct distance from camera to floor and camera to user.
